Benson Beer & Co. was inspired by the spirited standard poodle, Benson Soncrant. Benson has the perfect mix of a rambunctious and charming personality that makes you feel on-edge and loveable at the same time. These are just about the same feelings that can arise from the consumption of beer. No, Benson does not enjoy real beer, but he sure does look cute and mischievous while carrying it! Benson Beer & Co. is a spoof on a company that does not sell actual beer, but is the face of a one-of-a-kind design of a plucky parti-poodle that thinks everything is a toy.
Benson Beer Co. was dreamed up after Nicole's dog Benson received a plush squeaky "Pup-Weiser" beer bottle toy. As simple as Benson holding a dog toy beer happened, the name Benson Beer & Co. was born. With influence from the business Johnny Cupcakes set up as a fake bakery, Nicole strived to create something similar with just apparel but quickly turned into a packaging and label project. Benson is a hilarious and fluffy dog that is as vibrant as they come, which needed to be reflected in the color palette of the graphic. The typography is bold, with a textured surface, just like our furry friend would want to be represented. Next on the list will be creating "Thor Liqueur" inspired by Benson's twin brother, Thor.
